Hey!
I have been involved in tourism and outdoor recreation for 20 years and from my time as a camp councilor learning the importance of leaving a campsite better than he found it; I have always been passionate about sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
My work experience spans four continents and has provided me the opportunity to work in corporate, non-profit and academic environments. I’ve worked on tourism projects in remote areas such as the mountains of Taiwan, the remote Australian outback, among the rice terraces of northern Vietnam and in the agricultural heart of Canada. I’ve also worked on tourism initiatives in some of the largest and robust cities in Asia, Europe and Canada.
I’ve built and managed integrated marketing campaigns from client, media and agency perspectives and understand the fundamental challenges of bringing product to market in an increasingly digital landscape.
I hold a Masters of Arts (Tourism) from Monash University in Melbourne, where a mixed curriculum allowed me to pursue further academic research and hands-on work experience in Broome, Australia and Riga, Latvia. My dissertation included Content Analysis of Sustainable Marketing Messages from Australian Eco-Lodges, while a further study post-graduation allowed me to explore the Economic and Tourism Impacts of International Students in Latvia. I also hold a bachelor degree in Tourism Management from Capilano University in Vancouver, Canada.
In 2019, I moved my young family to Taiwan, so be close with family and to give our children the gift of a second language. I continued my career in tourism education and research, lecturing tourism at Ming Chuan University in northern Taiwan, while conducting both private consulting research and research for Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
In the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, I co-founded Parkbus Taiwan, a transportation solution to encourage more people to get outdoors and enjoy nature.
In 2021, I begin a new journey of development, embarking on a Ph.D in Forestry and Resource Conservation at National Taiwan University.
